Second grade offers a unique opportunity for students to polish and further develop their literacy skills. In first grade, students developed their ability to become fluent and efficient readers. In second grade, students continue developing these skills including expanding vocabulary, deepening understanding and comprehension of text, decoding more and multi-syllabic words and increasing fluency to pull it all together.
